Hidden Gems

No it's not Malham! It's Ingleton's own limestone pavement.  Situated half way up Ingleborough, a short walk from Harling House.

Located at the top end of Ingleton's Waterfalls Trail but is often missed.  This is a gem of a location, with views towards Ingleborough.

The  Hoffmann lime kiln, situated in nearby Langcliffe. A superb piece of local history and industrial heritage.   It's FREE to look around and it's a must for photographers.

Just a short 40 minutes' drive from Harling House is the pretty little coastal village of Heysham.  Stroll along the sand dunes and take in the views across Morecambe Bay towards the South Lakes.

On the road over to Hawes, you'll find the tiny hamlet of Snaizeholme, renowned for it' conservation of the endagered native red squirrel.  (Book in advance).red-squirrels

Just a stones throw from Ingleton is the Lake District

National Park.  Situated close to Coniston is Kelly Hall Tarn.  Park at the Landrover garage and walk about 50 metres, it's easy.

Travel just 20 minutes by car from Harling House,  you'll find Dry Rigg Quarry (near Helwith Bridge).  See Pen-Y Ghent and all sorts of birds. FREE offroad parking. The area includes a boardwalk for nature spotting and views.

Just a 15 minute drive from Harling house is the famous Ribblehead viaduct but often overlooked is the Ingleborough National Nature Reserve close by.   The geology seat not only mirrors the profile of Inglebouough but the layers of stone are dated correctly.

This is a must for anyone who likes their history.  Dating back to the Roman times, take a guided tour of the castle. There's also a lovely coffee shop, gardens and priory.https://www.lancastercastle.com/
